A national touring exhibition developed by the National Archives of Australia.
Traversing Antarctica marks the 100th anniversary of the 1911–14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition, led by Douglas Mawson. The exhibition is a journey of discovery through the stories, science and wonder of Antarctica’s past, present and future. The exhibition celebrates the enduring scientific, historic and social legacy of this landmark expedition and will include original documents, objects, innovative touch-screen displays and stunning imagery.

Traversing Antarctica: the Australian Experience is being developed by the National Archives of Australia in partnership with the Australian Antarctic Division and Western Australian Museum, with support from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and South Australian Museum.
The exhibition has previously been displayed at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. The Canberra exhibition will open on 23 March 2012 until 9 September 2012. It will then tour nationally until 2014 and will include Western Australia and South Australia.
